Let’s Start and End April with a Bang!

April 1st, 7:00 PM.

As many of you are aware, we had the first school-wide dance since the “pre-COVID” days! For BTHS students weary of the stringent pandemic protocol being enforced, the school dance was a vibrant occasion for them to relax -- one of the first school events relatively untouched by COVID-19. Although simple, it was refreshing to see students outside of the typical, intensive learning environment. After students bought their tickets and signed up for the momentous waffle raffle, the MPR was filled with kids singing, dancing, and enjoying their friends’ company. Yes, lots of Taylor Swift’s hits were belted out. There was even a photo station set up, and of course, glow sticks! For those fatigued from dancing, refreshments such as chips, cupcakes, water, and juice were set up! Below are some student opinions on the dance.

Hannah Jacobs: “I thought the dance was nice. I think the fact that they finally put together a dance was quite impressive.”

Sam Potenciano: “I found the Spring Fling to be a great rebound from COVID-19. It reminded me of what normal life was like before the pandemic. A life full of dancing, socializing, and most importantly, smiles and laughs.”

Victoria Berger: “The dance was very enjoyable, but the only beef I had was that of the seniors, who insisted that no one wanted to listen to “Cotton Eye Joe.” However, that was the most fun anyone had on the dance floor.”

Sanika Bane: “It was very stressful because of how quickly it was planned by the Sophomore and Senior Council, but I would say that the obvious highlight was the Eggo raffle.”

Gabrielle Alli: “I thought it was a really nice idea from the councils to have a dance. Mostly, I appreciated the effort they put into the little things, like the balloon arch. It was a cute night and I think a lot of kids and even teachers had a good time. Shoutout to Mr. Chin and his wife, they're the coolest!”

Daniel Fiskin: “It was homey...it felt more personal and friendly.”

Anonymous: “I think it was kind of underrated, because a lot of people had high hopes [for the dance]. Once you felt comfortable enough, though, it had its moments.”

Spring Break at the end of the month granted some much-needed relaxation for Biotech students to end April just as wonderfully as it began. The Spring Fling, while not formal, was a chance for students to enjoy each other’s company!
